No Wi-fi in Nokai Xpress Music 5800i ? – The second major change will be removing Wi-Fi in the Xpress Music 5800 i ,for some reasons. May be Nokia aims to market this mainly in China and countries like that ?

Just by looking at the shots of the Nokia 5800i XpressMusic, there don’t seem to be any visual clues to what is different. A closer look at the 3 megapixel camera specs written on the back reveal a longer focus distance – 4.6mm as opposed to 3.7mm in the original model.- GSMARENA.COM

Nokia N97 Mini :

The smaller version of Nokia N97. The images firstly released at Engadget.com.

The Nokia N97 Mini expected to have the following features.

• A smaller 3.2″ inch screen
• No D-pad but dedicated arrow keys on the right hand side.
• No lens cover, this could be a blessing.
• On board Memory will be 8 GB (Lessor than N97 however)

Hopefully the Nokia N97 will be available for a lessor price than N97.Nokia will release this Mini after few months ,in order to sell more N97 and prepare the market to accept the N97 Mini. The N97 mini seems to be the size of Nokia Xpress Music 5800 .In brief Nokia N97 will be cute and Little affordable N97.

I have noticed few of my friends are not aware of Nokia Firmware updates and few of them do not know how to update and few think it is a dangerous job .But they are complaining about the bugs frequently .

2)NSU-Nokia Software Updater : You should download and install the Nokia Software updater in your PC ,then connect the phone ,next start the NSU when your PC is online ,it will search the update automatically and install with your permission to the phone


How to update your Nokia (Xpress Music 5800 used to write this post)Mobile via OTA
(This method is applicable to  phones with Symbian  Series 60 Feature pack 2 (Eg N96,N78 )also.)

Go to “settings” from the main menu of your phone then choose “phone” now select “Phone Management ” then select “device Updates”“  it will show you the current firmware version and other info ,click “options” from this menu then choose “Check for Updates”. Now you phone will attempt to connect to the internet ,choose the connection you want to use(Wif fi is the best as it is free)phone will download the firmware if it found new ,then follow the on screen instructions to update.Phone will restart few times and let you the the update status. In Nokia XPress Music 5800 you will not lose any settings or application even after the firmware update.

If the phone takes too much of time to start after update ,remove the battery  and put it again(Caution :try this after 10 mins observation only ,don’t do it during the update ,you phone will go bad and mad)

How to do hard reset(Format)  in Nokia XPress Music 5800 ?

You have to backup your data  before do hard reset ,it will erase the data and setting s from phone memory ,not from memory card.

You don’t need to do hard rest every time after update. In some case only it needed. The latest version of the Nokia XPress Music 5800 Ver 30.0.011 offers an email plug in ,that shows email activity in you home screen,after update if it is not showing in your phone and still you want it in the home screen do the hard reset.

Press Green button ,red button,camera key and the power key together for 10 seconds,phone will restart ,if not switch off the phone and again hold all 4 keys for 10 seconds ,phone will restart and will ask  the time and date settings like a new phone. Yes now you have done hard reset.

Yes  folks  !, I  have checked it out today on my Nokia Xpress Music and Desktop PC both. Nokia OVI store got some new stuff . The best thing  for me ,OVI store got better touch applications for free (!!). I have downloaded  Touch Counter Application for my XPM 5800,works fine. Still playing with the OVI store client for apps . I Will update this post if anything found interesting over there.

One of the Nokia’s innovative software , I love much,is Nokia Sports tracker . They have started to offer Nokia sports tacker few years back ,and time to time Nokia was adding new features . Now it is almost a complete health support product.

After I lost my Nokia N95 8GB and started to use Xpress Music 5800 ,Again I had to go for a software hunt. I managed to get the Sports tracker for Symbian S60 V5 and hosted at our forums for our readers.

Nokia recently rolled out Nokia Xpress Music 5800 firmware to version 30.0.011.

Currently update available via FOTA(directly from the phone) and Nokia Software updater(via PC).

Main visible changes are the camera zoom function assigned to volume control key and the home screen email notification.

After installing the firmware update ,you should do hard reset in order to get the email notification at the home screen. I have a detailed guide for update and hard reset .

Standby screen:

* *When Music Player is operating, and seeing the track name on the screen, and then when one song ends and goes to the next track, the speed at which this happens has improved yet again from 21.002, although the noticeable change is not as much as from 20.149 to 21.002.

Call log, Contacts and calling function:

* *Calling speed (from standby screen to Contacts or Call Log) and transition to call/disconnected screens even faster than 21.002, is more than the instantaneous that I stated for the 21.002, it has improved yet again.
* *New menu option in the in-call menu to Send MMS during phone call.
* *Loudspeaker maximum volume has seemed to decreased

Maps:

* *Maps startup is now almost instantaneous, speed through all the Maps menus very fast, even faster than Maps 2.0
* *Switching to different views is very smooth and fast now, i.e. to Map 3D etc.
* *Maps version 2.0 week 39 remains the same, although the Maps is able to be upgraded to Ovi Maps 3.01 flawlessly

Music Player:

* *The biggest change is the equalizer improvements. There is a huge improvement in sound quality, even background sounds and other channels are more noticeable. The default equalizer settings are quite good. And bass is less crunchy than before.
* *Split-second delays now do not exist when pressing the volume keys to change between volume levels. In the past, there was some degree of delay, even running multiple applications now, that behaviour has been improved remarkably.
* *Freezes in the music player have not been evident to me yet in my days of usage with the new firmware . Which is a marked improvement in the functioning and stability of the music player. Screen tearing and slow speed for album art to appear is still present though.

Camera and Photos:

* *Biggest change is the reappearance of use of the volume keys to zoom while taking photos/recording video
* *Going into Details is faster than 21.002, almost instantaneous now
* *Scrolling speed through thumbnails is only minimally jerky now, also scrolling through photos at 100% view has improved in speed so it is now very smooth and almost instantaneous
* *When going into menus in Camera, the speed is instantaneous

Video centre:

* *Logo has changed for the video centre in the menu
* *Appearance of video menu is different and seems to have inherited the newer N-series/E-series style simplified logos
* *Speed in the video centre is much improved and is almost instantaneous
* *Changing between volume levels in Real Player is instantaneous, fast-forward/rewind speed and resume of playback after these functions is improved and almost instantaneous. Sound quality appears to have been improved also.

Search:

* *Application has been upgraded from v4.08 to v4.10.0904
* *Logo has changed and is now reminiscent of the newer N-series/E-series simplified styling
* *Performance is faster and Yandex search service has been removed in favour of Live Search and Google (Note: this is for the APAC variant, will vary between different regions and specific countries)

Web:

* *Rendering of webpages has improved in speed since 21.002
* *Rotate Screen option speed is now almost instantaneous
* *Speed in Web options menu is now instantaneous
* *Loading of Minimap on side when scrolling down pages does not have pixelation anymore

Other:

* *Overall system speed has been improved so it is somewhat faster than 21.002
* *Scrolling in the Multimedia menu from one tab to another whilst multiple applications are running, has improved marginally in speed
* *Overall stability seems to also have been improved, have not had one crash or freeze where I have had to remove the phone battery. The slight freezes that have occurred, the phone has recovered from flawlessly.

Don’t forget to take a backup before updating your firmware. Nokia Xpress Music will preserve your applications and settings during the update and will give back as previous. But few applications you installed on the phone  memory may be lost.

This product resembles Apple Iphone ,and the hardware specs are more advanced as per needs of  today. It is a mixture of N97 and N96 .


N98 will have TV tuner also. It is the most anticipated Piece from Nokia if this is a true story.

Blackberry Storm 9550 scoop

Update(24/07/2009): oops ! sorry folks ,the video of upcoming Blackberry storm 9550 has been removed by Research in Motion  ,the black berry company today. I have checked other blogs also for the video it seems no one has the video at the moment.

According to various Chinese media reports, the worker at Chinese manufacturer Foxconn committed suicide last week after a fourth-generation iPhone prototype for which he was responsible went missing.

“We are saddened by the tragic loss of this young employee, and we are awaiting results of the investigations into his death,” Apple spokeswoman Kristin Huguet told CNET on Tuesday. “We require our suppliers to treat all workers with dignity and respect.”

Apple did not comment on the details of the worker’s death, allegations regarding Foxconn’s questioning of the worker, or the status of the allegedly missing phone prototype.
Various English-language sites have been repeating and translating Chinese media reports.


According to Chinese media, 25-year-old Sun Danyong was responsible for shipping iPhone prototypes to Apple. Danyong reported the missing device to Foxconn after realizing that one of the 16 iPhones he received was no longer in his possession.

Foxconn is Apple’s longtime manufacturing partner in China. Apple has used the company to manufacture all of its iPods and, more recently, all of the iPhone models.

Nokia Xpress Music 5800 -N97 Look and Feel

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is getting a firmware update, which will introduce some new, quite welcome features – an enhanced homescreen, kinetic scrolling in some menus as well as improved camera performance and response time.

I hope Nokia carefully listen to our complaints about Nokia Xpress Music 5800 and do the needful.

The enhanced homescreen will be like the one on N97, with all its contacts bar and widgets goodness. The kinetic scrolling update however is only partial at this stage – it will be applicable in the homescreen, the Contacts list and the web browser. The update is surely more than welcome but we cannot help but feel that it will make the UI on the 5800 even more inconsistent.

Predications from GSMarena ,says that the experience will not be complete as N97 as some menus allow kinetic scrolling ,and some area will not allow ,icons will allow single tap to start programs,still the contact list you have to navigate in the traditional way. .

Another benefit of the upcoming firmware update would be the improved response time and camera performance.The response time is very very important to use the phone faster. Nokia offers this important update at least now after a long time of research .

When this update will be available for the 5800 XpressMusic remains to be seen but it’ll should be shortly after the launch of its younger sibling – Nokia 5530 XpressMusic. According to the source the latter will come with all the new features straight out of the box.:  gsmarena.com
